An Egyptian Blogger Loses His Job Because of His Blog

Karim Reda is an Egyptian blogger who has been fired from his job at Petrotrade company. Reda exposed the current ongoing corruption in the company online in his blog “Scream” and on the facebook where he was calling for workers’ union.

“Petrotrade’ is a public company and it bothers me to find it suffers from corruption because in the end of the day this is our money which is being stolen. Instead of firing Reda ,why there was not an investigation regarding his allegations which show that he cares  !!?? I do not even want to hear an answer because I know it in advance.

Tomorrow is the international human rights day by the way.

  1. Um...if you publicly write negative things about your company, you are going to be fired. It doesn't matter what country you live in.

  2. He should go to the prosecutors office with what he has. Im sorry for him to have lost his job but he should expose them legally, ppl like yourself and NGOs can be used to create a media buzz and may be also contact TV shows. The very sad truth is that sometimes the truth needs to come out with a big bang and those who are corrupt and in high places hate the noise and those supporting them only stop protecting them when the noise is too loud and when they find their own names on the line

  4. no matter how rooted in social justice his blog posts were, if any of them contained corporate secrets he does not have a case! my recommendation to him is to quit whining and embrace blogging as a vocation.

just look at Z she has embraced google adsense wholeheartedly!

  5. Lasr anon wow this is the first time I know the law forbids a person from making information about crimes committed by his bosses public. What a twisted understanding of legal rules and social justice.
Sure any person who knows of evidence of corruption in his own place of work should either hush about it bec he shouldnt reveal the secrets of his place of work even when these secrets amount to crimes or should first quite his/her job then expose them.

What a couple of stupid and ignorant comments by the last 2 anons
