Mubarak's Reception To Our Egyptian National Football Team

Mubarak received our Egyptian national football team today's morning at the airport then he received them again in the presidential palace at 6PM to honor them.

Some team members kissed Mubarak's shoulder as sign of respect , already most of these players come from country side where kissing the shoulder of the elder is a sign of respect. Of course Mohamed Zidan's moment of kissing the President's hand was removed from the segment , I do not know if he kissed his hand as sign of respect or hypocrisy as he has been living in Europe for awhile now.

Now I hope that the President pays more attention to the country especially its scientists like our footballers.

  2. You always make my day! oh my dear, I respect your wishes , but don't you see , Sports is a magic formula it goes like that Sports = win + No effort need = led to enhance regime's image + keep people busy , and if sports failed they whom the people and us have to blame , what can you ask more ?! . But scientists oh boy! It means Science = work +more work + reveal the corruption +make us have to co-sharing our way and vision of ruling the country +discuss +disagree +etc “which we don’t like “ = they will have all the credit , you kidding me who need that headache

Like you I dislike the focus of the regime on football, while sciences and researchers are not as appreciated but I hate to burst your bubble football also has a lot of science and management behind it. Yes, you need luck (or tawfeek men Allah) but you also do a lot to get to the proper shape and prepare a team. So, i dnt get this eww football attitude some of those self-proclaimed intellectuals have. A proper society hails its sports heros as well its researchers, as long as they are doing a good job.
Also, Egyptians arent stupid and they knw that football wins do not solve their problems and especially this time most players mentioned the win was for the ppl, less mention of officials this time around which means also the players are on the same tune like the ppl.
