It is officially here

If you are in Egypt and you read the Al-Ahram weekly edition on Friday , did you see the Official iPhone ads in the newspaper today ?? The same ad but with different colors and logo according to the Mobile Operator “Red for Vodafone” and “Orange for Mobinil”. The only difference in both ads is what it is mentioned in a very thin line in the Vodafone ad
‘There are some features that will be unavailable according to your mobile operator’
Strangely the Vodafone customer service representative did not know what is missing but he told me that there will be Maps.
I asked the Mobinil customer service representative and she told me that the unavailable services are : The SMS forward, the MMS and Video Call "She did not mention anything about the GPS !!”
Anyhow Well my dear readers  it is available from today the 14th of November 2008 in Vodafone branches too ,this is according to Vodafone and Mobinil  customer service on the phone.
The prices are “8GB for L.E 3800” and “16 GB for L.E 4560”
I need to know your reactions if you are going to buy it

  1. Have you walked the streets of Cairo lately. I mean real Cairo. Do you know what the average salary of the average Egyptian is?

You obviously are very rich/affluent if you are asking who will buy this? You may be able to afford this but the majority of Egyptians can barely buy food. You should go to imbaba, sayidda Zeinab, the Hussein and if you want a nice drive, try Faisal or Haram St. and walk through the mariotia, then ask who will buy this? See how the rest of us Egyptians are living.

I almost laughed when I read your comment. Who will buy this she asks. Only the very rich my dear.

  6. i come to visit your blog regularly, instead of watching the news :) i appreciate the amount of time you invest in what i like to think is for educating ppl like me :)

about the iphone, in the states its sold for 200$ i would never buy it for thousands. and about the ppl commenting above on the rich and so on; everyone has different interests, i might not be that rich but i like cars for instance so i pay alot in that field. Stop thinking like communists, your brains all tell u that these days are still when the thawra was yesterday and the eqta3eyeen money was distributed on the sha3b. oh wait, i guess thats what the NDP is doing again! I guess its what we like to do in egypt HAHA

  7. FYI, MMS is not a disabled service. iPhones don't have that feature, along with video recording, cut-and-paste, tethering, and flash.. To name a few...
